Chloe post: Oh, the Parties I will Throw...

...When I have my own room! On Saturday, Mommy and Daddy took me to Mom-Mom and Pop-Pop's house so they could babysit me while they went and met the home inspector to look at our (potentially) new house! Daddy says that we have to remain cautiously optimistic that everything will work out, but we're all getting really excited! Our offer was accepted and now there are inspections and appraisals and paperwork and things like that which don't really concern me. What does concern me is that I will get my own room! I am so excited!

Mommy also said that sometime we will get swings for the backyard - we have a nice big backyard that Daddy will have to mow so I can play in.

All my loyal readers: please think good thoughts for the paperwork and all that stuff. We can't get too excited until everything goes through because Daddy said we will jinx ourselves. (But, when Daddy isn't looking, Mommy does little happy dances. Hee hee hee.)

Love,
Chloe

PS. I am starting to wave at people. I practice when I'm playing with my toys so that I can start trying to do it "in context." At least, that's what Mommy says.

Chloe post: Miss Stella, the Photographer

Mommy was so excited that Miss Stella has sent her lots of pictures of me at school. I love to play with water, help Miss Stella at lunch time and crawl up the climbing toy.

Crossing Fingers...

...Well, we've been too busy to post lately because we have been house hunting... and last night we made an offer and today they accepted it!

Let's all stay cautiously optimistic that things continue well from here... but Chloe just might be on her way to her own room!

Chloe post: I am the Belle of Glenolden

This weekend, I had lots of fun hanging out with Mommy and Daddy in the air conditioning. We played with my toys and took naps each morning and had so much fun... of course, then inevitably, Mommy would get stir crazy and we would have to go out!

I didn't mind, because I am a very social baby.

Daddy didn't mind because he got to beta-test a game in a very quiet apartment without Mommy talking to him and me respectfully seeking his attention.

Saturday night, Mommy got me all dressed up (don't I look pretty in my dress?) and we went to a birthday party for cousin Samantha's boyfriend. I didn't even see him the whole time I was there - I was too busy chilling with my peeps and meeting these dogs. Dogs are confusing. They are like toys that move all by themselves. Licking, loud, active toys.

There was lots of food that smelled really yummy, but no one would let me have any. True that I showed up with some sweet potatoes in my eye, so maybe they were afraid I wouldn't be ladylike. I like to dip my fingers in my mouth when Mommy feeds me and then wipe my fingers across my eyes. I'm trying to keep Mommy on her toes. Chloe: 1, Mommy: 0.
Anyway, I really wanted some souerkraut, but no one would give it up. I tried to steal some from Patti Anne's Pop-Pop, but Mommy was right there! Chloe: 1, Mommy: 1.

Later that night, there were fireworks! I didn't understand what they were, but I was only nervous for a second. I don't enjoy the popping, but the lights were so pretty! I just relaxed with Aunt Patty and watched them. Mommy was so proud that I was such a big girl. Those nutty dogs were not as mature. They were running all over the place and making lots of noise like they wanted a bottle or something. Chloe: 2, Dogs: 0.

Also, I had lots of fun hanging with my girls: Patti Anne and Kate. They are pretty cool and will probably be able to get me into college parties in the fall.

The next day, we played with Daddy for awhile and then Mommy and I went to see everyone at the pool. I am quite the bathing beauty. I'm not afraid of the big pool like some babies. I was kicking and splashing and even put my face in the water to test it out. I'm not sure how I feel about that, but at least I didn't cry. I saw another baby - an OLDER baby - and she was crying. Not me! Chloe: 3, Other Babies: 0.

I also want to give a shout out to Aunt Patty - she really hooked me up yesterday. She brought a Pak'nPlay and a walker for me to play in after I went swimming. This cool walker has two spinning toys that I had fun knocking around. Everyone couldn't believe how well-behaved I was... I simply maintain that the appropriate toys gets the appropriate response. Of course, as Mommy pointed out, "it's easy to be a good girl when everyone takes turns saying how pretty she is." That's a fairly good point. One more point to Mommy for being clever.

So, to recap: with a score of Chloe: 3, Mommy: 2, Dogs: 0, Other Babies: 0, I think we know who is the most clever, bravest, coolest baby on the block, don't we?

Chloe post: What Mommy has to say about the Eagles' new player

Mommy says that people who hurt animals are VERY BAD people and that I am not allowed to play with them. I'm also not allowed to play with big mean thugs who only apologize for things when they get caught. Mommy believes that coaches who can't keep their kids out of jail should maybe take a break and handle their (bad word) before deciding to recruit dogkillers to play sports in a town already perceived to be filled with insane football fans. Also, she feels strongly that "there is no I in TEAM" and that people with big freakin' egos should hit the highway. Also, she enjoys the Manning brothers. For a couple of days, Mommy was confused about which Manning brother played for what team (Peyton is her fave, but Eli is good, too) and also which NY team T.O. went to when he left the Cowboys (who Mommy also dislikes - both the Cowboys and T.O. - you don't want her to get started on T.O, trust me). Mommy didn't want to be cheering for whichever Manning plays in NY and then accidently cheer for T.O. at the same time. Mommy has a very complicated way of deciding who she is cheering for... But, she stopped someone on the street and he cleared it up:

Eli plays for the NY Giants
T.O. plays for Buffalo
Peyton plays for Indianapolis

Mommy says "GO COLTS" and if in need of a back up "GO GIANTS."

Daddy says Mommy is a nutball. Mommy says "(Bad word), Daddy" and also "GO PHILS."

Chloe post: I like the park!

I love being outside! I like the breeze and the people and the different stuff to try to eat when Mommy and Daddy aren't looking. Last weekend, they took me to the park with Mom-Mom and Pop-Pop and we had such a good time. They put out a big blanket for me so I could scoot from one end to the other and then one of them would "kick me back in to play" when I got to the edge. I tried to eat grass and leaves, but Mommy and Daddy made me stop (that's Mommy taking a leaf from me, not giving it to me). I also had lots of fun hanging out with Mom-Mom and Pop-Pop. They love giving me kisses and taking pictures of me. They couldn't believe how big I have gotten! It's like I keep telling everyone who will listen - I am quite the big girl now!!

My baby is bilingual... and also a ruler of the universe

Yesterday, on our way to school, Chloe sat in her car seat, casually chewing her bear and clearly stated: "Et da Boo." I think it's crystal clear that what she was saying is "Mother, I am eating the Pooh Bear."

It's incredible to me just how fast she is growing. All of a sudden, the child has begun moving at the speed of sound... I'm not sure how that is possible since she can't even crawl yet. She has perfected the inchworm, though, and I can tell you one thing: Daddy and I are SCREWED. The days of putting her on her playmat and leaving her there while I go do the dishes are OVER. Over, I tell you.

She's also starting to have her own personality. The other day, I smelled something vile coming from the direction of her pants and when I looked to confirm, I swear the kid smirked at me. On Tuesday, when I took her to school after having been gone for several days, the only other baby there was going to sleep. I sat Chloe down on the carpet with all the toys and she looked around, confirmed that she was the only one down there, and a look of sheer ecstasy came over her face. I am confident she was thinking, "it's mine - it's all mine!" Then on Thursday, she and Zavier chased their teacher around the room because she had the audacity to have Chinese food for lunch and not share.

She is simply incredible, but it has become abundantly clear: Chloe is in charge and woe to the Mommy or Daddy who forgets that.

PS. from Chloe: Mommy speaks the truth. And there better not be any more peas. You wouldn't like me when I'm confronted with peas.

Chloe post: I am a Legacy

This weekend, Mommy and I went to Norfolk, VA for the Phi Sigma Sigma convention. Mommy is a Phi Sigma Sigma and I am a legacy. The Phi Sigs all said that I was very sweet and pretty and I had lots of fun meeting them, too. Some of them had babies for me to talk with and I really liked that. I am becoming very sociable.

I also had a great time hanging out with Grams and Grandpa! They drove all the way from Lake Lure to baby sit me while Mommy was in lots of meetings. We had such a good time! They brought me some presents and took me on lots of walks around Norfolk. We also went swimming in the pool. I am becoming quite the little fishy. I am trying to learn how to kick my legs and I didn't even cry when my face went under the water. I am getting so big and brave!

I also liked meeting Connor. He is Phi Sig Joanne's little boy. We made friends. I really like chewing on my fingers, so I thought he might like them, too. Mommy says that I am very thoughtful.

It was a really fun weekend and I enjoyed seeing my Aunt Diane (see my post about her below - she was late to convention because she was busy testifying in Washington), spending time with the Phi Sigs I met at the Golf tournament, and meeting lots of new people - like Mommy's friend Amy. Here's a picture of her and Mommy from Saturday night. Don't they look pretty?

At the Sphinx Banquet, I even got to help Mommy and Aunt Diane pick up an award for the Philly girls. The Grand Archon held me and I had my picture taken and everything. It was lots of fun!

My only disaster occurred while Mommy was packing and I fell off the bed! Mommy should have been more careful - I scoot around quite quickly now and off I went! I face planted on the carpet and got rug burn on my nose... but I am now so glad to be back and out of the car finally, that I forgave Mommy. She's still my friend.

Chloe post: I am so proud of Aunt Diane

"Dr. Spatz was asked by AWHONN to give testimony for the Call to Breastfeeding Action providing recommendations to the on breastfeeding policy to government agencies."

Check it out here.

I am so proud of Aunt Diane! She is a good godmother and very smart!
