"Don't Just Shop; Q"

Mommy: When the American Red Cross in Philly included an online auction in their 2014 Red Ball, I saw that one of the items was called, "I Love QVC."  How could I not bid??  I was sure that I would be outbid, but I wasn't!  So, for a nice size donation to the cause, I was treated to a fabulous goody bag and tickets for the All-Access Tour.

I'm not sure what I was expecting, but we were treated to a three hour tour, fabulous lunch, and a goody bag.  Take a look at the adventure had by Beth, my mom and I as we made our way thru the Q!

During our visit, we were able to go on all of the sets featured on the Q, sit on the stages, pose for pictures...

...and see what the hosts and guests see.  This shot shows a screen on the right which demonstrates what is currently on TV with the screen on the right which shows the next shot coming up, the time left in the segment, and if there is a caller being patched through with the caller's name, location, and item purchased.

Q through the years - some of the company's historical items, including the first chairs used by hosts and guests... and the phone they used on air.

Proving there is something at QVC for everyone: the top piece is from the QVC Nascar car.

These types of signs are posted throughout the building, reminding the employees about the importance of customer service... not that they needed a reminder.  We were very impressed at the top notch service we received throughout the tour.  We interrupted so many people during their work days and everyone was delightful and happy to meet us.  I suggested to the tour guide that QVC offer customer service seminars to businesses.

Here we are, on the kitchen set...

Here's Mom, "cutting lemons" on the kitchen set.  We had a wonderful conversation later in the day with one of the chefs who explained all the details about food styling, meeting famous chefs, etc.  He was awesome - told us lots of great stories and spent a good amount of time with us.

This is the set that Isaac and Shawn are always on - my favorite!

I swear, I really thought this was outside when I've seen this on TV!

Think anyone would mind if some of these went missing??

**

Not pictured, but we also got to visit one of the control rooms, audio, graphics, master control, an editing suite, the location where they store items to go on air and prep them, and much more.  It was QUITE the day!

Back to the Water Table

Mommy: More pictures from the water table... I want to tickle Kyra's tummy until she SCREAMS.  I just cannot help myself!

The New Water Table

Chloe: This is so cool!  Mommy said she was going to get us a water table this summer and on Saturday, it arrived!

Amber: She was waiting for a sale, and it came at a perfect time because it was so hot and humid!  I wish we didn't have to give up the sand box, though.

Chloe: I know.  But Mommy said that we weren't being responsible.

Amber: What?  It was ONE TIME that you put a ton of sand in my hair and then she spent days getting it out of my fro.  ONE TIME.

Chloe: Yeah, but remember that time we didn't listen and we threw handfuls (or bucketfuls) of sand on the porch and Mommy didn't realize it was still there and then cats peed in it and she started screaming like a crazy woman?

Amber: Ah, yes, I remember it well.

Chloe: Yeah, so now we get water and she's getting rid of the sandbox.

Amber: Well, it sucks, but I have to give this one to Mommy.  I mean, the porch finally doesn't smell like cat pee, you know?

Chloe: True enough.

Kyra: Wait.  So, I'm just allowed to play in this woh-woh as much as I want and splash it around and I won't get in trouble?

Really?  So, this is DIFFERENT from the toilet, then?

Kyra: Amazing!

Happy Mother's Day!

Chloe: Happy Mother's Day!!!!

Amber: Yes, Happy Mother's Day to Mommy, Mom-Mom, and Grams!

Kyra: And Happy Mother's Day to our godmothers: Aunt Diane, Sam, and PattyAnne!

Chloe: We love you!

Lucky Necklace!

Amber: Thanks to my amazing mother, I have discovered what I need to have a cry-free, non-attachment dance class: my lucky necklace!

As long as I am wearing this pendant (which used to be Mommy's, but now is mine, and is definitely not Chloe's), I can do all of my dance moves, all of the positions, all of the stretches.

Plus, I don't need to cling to the window during free dance (as long as I have a teacher to spin me).

Plus, it looks adorable on me!  Win/win!

Last Weekend... In Time for This Weekend

Kyra: So Mommy is finally getting around to posting our photos from last weekend... just in time for THIS weekend.  Oh, that Mommy.  Anyway, I'm going to take the reins on this blog and tell you what's what.  So, last Saturday, she packed us all up and we went over to the Y for Children's Health Day and the fun walk.  But, then, there was no fun walk!  But, our Mommy... she made us do it anyway.

Kyra: When she succeeded in making Amber exercise and catching up to Chloe, we checked out all that the Y had to offer... As you can imagine, I was not invited to do the craft, bounce in the bounce house, or do any of the fitness games.  But, I did score a new (TOTALLY AWESOME) tooth brush and some cheddar bunnies which Chloe said were made from goldfish.

Kyra: Amber was not so much with the fitness games, but she did agree to do the obstacle course.  Chloe, however, did the obstacle course, the game that involved a lot of jumping and push ups, and then she kicked three goals in a soccer thing.  Based on her hard work, we got a bunch of raffle tickets and then we won a $20 gift card to Dick's Sporting Goods AND a $40 gift card to Acme.

Kyra: I don't really care about any of that.

Kyra: Chloe played in this weird thing, which sadly did not involve real money.

Kyra: Then, on Sunday, they ditched me!  They made me stay home with Daddy and they went off to a craft fair.  They also didn't let me partake in the face painting fun*.  Plus, Chloe and Amber got to be models for this cool business and then the lady gave them hair clips.

I was not a model, received no hair clips, and I had to stay home and nap.

Witches.

* Note from Mommy: I hate face painting like poison and it is.every.where.  So, at the Y on Saturday, I finally threw up my hands in desperation and loudly announced, "Chloe, I will give up every eyeliner I own if we can get out of this line.  Do you want to be Bat Girl?  Or a cat?  Or a butterfly?  I can totally do that.  I HATE THIS LINE."
