A New Direction for a Philly Family

A note from Mommy:

As you can tell, it's been some time since I have updated this blog, which I once updated quite a bit.  Two things have happened which have kept me away:

1) I finally embraced the current decade and got a smart phone.  Now, I can upload the photos I take to Facebook as soon as I take them and I have found that EVERYONE is on the Facebook.

2) Another issue is related to these kids of mine.  I once took a great deal of fun (and hopefully, you then had a great deal of fun) developing voices for Chloe, Amber, and Kyra.  I imagined Chloe as the gal on the go with Amber as the sassy foil and Kyra the monkey in the works of everything either tried.

But, they are getting older now.  And while Kyra IS often the monkey in the works of whatever they are trying to do, all three of them are developing their own voices... and it feels wrong to invent fake voices for them.  So I'm going to stop doing that.

However, I don't want to walk away from this blog entirely (as I have for several months).  I have some new ideas... some ideas to bring those unique voices to the forefront of this blog.

Stay tuned.

Chloe's First Day at Kindergarten!

Chloe: Mommy said this jumper is going to kill her.  I have no idea what she means, but man, am I excited!  Today, I enter a bold, new world: Kindergarten.

As Dr. Seuss wrote, "I have brains in my head and feet in my shoes."  I'm ready!  AND yesterday, Mommy took me shopping for my awesome new Ninja Turtle backpack and then we went for manicures - at the PLACE!  Mommy didn't do it for me.  We went to a PLACE.

I'm so excited that I just can't stand it!  Mommy and Daddy are so proud of me and Mommy just kept going on and on...

Amber: Hi, remember us?  We live here, too.

Kyra: Seriously.  What is with all the excitement?  Plus, Mommy bopped me because I was trying to rip off Chloe's name tag.  I'm the baby!  That's, you know, WHAT I DO?

Amber: Girl, it is going to be a long year.

Kyra (nodding): Let me tell you what.

Not a Baby

Kyra: I'm not a baby.  And if you want proof, I just started today full-time in the 1-year old room.  No babies in that room!  Holla.

Pomp and Circumstance

Chloe: Last Friday, I finally graduated... from Pre-K!  I'm so excited to be moving up in the world and heading out with the big kids.  I had a great time celebrating with all my friends and I was very touched to be named "Most Caring" of the graduating class.  Onward!

Lucky Necklace!

Amber: Thanks to my amazing mother, I have discovered what I need to have a cry-free, non-attachment dance class: my lucky necklace!

As long as I am wearing this pendant (which used to be Mommy's, but now is mine, and is definitely not Chloe's), I can do all of my dance moves, all of the positions, all of the stretches.

Plus, I don't need to cling to the window during free dance (as long as I have a teacher to spin me).

Plus, it looks adorable on me!  Win/win!

Big Girl!

Kyra: YUM!  It's about time I got my own fork.  I may be THE baby, but I'm no longer A baby.  Sheesh!

Spring!

Kyra: It's finally spring time!  I'm so happy that my ability to walk around and be big has coincided with some warmer weather.  They finally let me out of the stroller at Smith Playground last weekend and we had a blast!  Mommy and Aunt Rachel took us to brunch and then we spent a nice, relaxing afternoon in the Smith playhouse and park before heading off for some ice cream.  Here are some of my favorite photos from the day!

Birthday Girl!

Kyra: Wow!  I have no idea what yesterday was all about, but it seemed to be all about me!  People gave me kisses and presents and I got this cool shirt and everything matched and everyone seemed impressed at how big I am and there was cake!  It was awesome!

P.S. From Mommy, if you love Kyra's Yo Gabba Gabba shirt, check out Gigi's Glitzy Boutique on Etsy.

Standin' Up and Bein' Big

Kyra: It's the "not so little anymore" little Chicken here.  I am TAKING OVER THIS WHOLE HOUSE.  I can climb the steps in 30 seconds!  And I only fell down them one time.  I am now in charge of everything and whoa to the big sister or parent that hasn't caught the Muppet News Flash.

KiKi JoJo out.  I've got pots to stir, baby.

Life as a Five Year Old

Chloe: Wow!  Life as a 5 year old has its advantages... like multiple parties!  On Friday, I brought ice pops to school for all my friends and yesterday, I got to have two parties!

I selected the Olympics as my theme, so for my friends party at the craft store, Mommy ordered a red, white, and blue cupcake cake and made this Olympic torch.  My friends got treat bags which included gummy bracelets in the colors of the Olympic rings, plus a lot of other great stuff!

We started off with some coloring...

...and then moved on to making Perler bead crafts.

I was so happy to spend some time with my friends!

I haven't seen Lexi in so long - it was great to see her!  It's also hard to catch up with Joy and Julianna since we're not doing dance anymore, so I was really glad they came.  And Michael was a great sport being the only boy.

When it was time to sing, my friends sang over the loud speaker so everyone in the store knew it was my birthday.

We had a great time!

Then, it was time to head home for my next party with our family.

Mommy made me this awesome cake!

Amber helped me blow out my candles.

Here I am, ready for school this morning, all set to show off this awesome Barbie shirt that Julianna gave me.  Mommy said that I am "Barbie Stuff Girl, the president of Barbie Stuff World."

And here's the picture of Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker that Michael made for me.  We're buds.

Thanks, everyone for celebrating my birthday with me!  It was a great day and I am so thankful for all my wonderful gifts!!  Love you!
