Vaccinations

It was traumatic, it was upsetting... and Chloe didn't like it either! Actually, I'm really proud of her. She calmed down after the shots very quickly and isn't fussy or anything now. But, when it happened, it was terrible - three big shots, one right after the other. This was the first time I've ever heard and seen her cry because she was in pain. It gave me a preview of skinned knees and sprained ankles and I have to say, I didn't care for it one bit. We can put men on the moon, so why can't these bad boys be given in a dropper? The needles were the size of Chloe's arm, I'm not even kidding.

But, here's for the good news: She's up to 9lbs, 8.9 oz, she's 22.13 inches (a huge jump for her) and her head circumference is 15.43 inches.

I'm getting really worried about returning to work and the pediatrician was very supportive and understanding. She had a lot of nice advice... and then she said "besides, her feet won't hit the floor in day care - she's too cute - they won't want to put her down!" Of course, Ed and I know that she's practically perfect in every way, but it's nice to have confirmation from an expert. :P

2 Months Old

It's hard to believe that Chloe is 2 months old today! Where has the time gone? She is such a joy to us - especially because last night, she slept from 1am to 6am! It was a party of sleep in our apartment. LOL

On Raising a Big Girl

I remember getting this outfit at my baby shower and then looking at it again after we brought Chloe home from the hospital. I remember thinking how big the overalls looked and I couldn't imagine when she would be big enough to wear them. It turns out that we have reached that day. I weighed her today and she is up to 9lbs, 4.2 oz. Whenever we go out, people approach her stroller and say "oh, she's so tiny." But, when I look at her, I can't believe how big she is. She's already so different from the tiny baby I met on January 24. With less than a month until I return to work, I'm already missing her. I so treasure this time home with her, the ability to watch as those subtle changes start happening. She has started to smile at things she likes - not a lot yet, but it's there. She's starting to know when both Ed and I are home and wants us near her. I put her on the play mat yesterday and she was content, by herself, for about 10 minutes because she was able to watch the toys and see herself in the mirror. It's so funny to hear strangers say how tiny she is because I swear, she's growing at the speed of sound. I'm going to turn around in a week and Ed and I will have grey hair (if Ed has hair lol) and Chloe will be leaving us to go to her dorm. And I miss her already.

More Play

I'm loving that Chloe is starting to see a bit more of the world around her! Now that she's awake for longer stretches of the day, we've been experimenting with different toys. This mat that my colleague, Janet, gave us has been a hit! She can't quite coordinate grabbing the hanging toys, but when I place them in her hand she can pull on them and feel them. Plus, there's the added bonus of hanging a mirror around the top so she can smile at that cute baby that keeps showing up there.

Chubby Baby

I weighed our little Chubkins yesterday and she's up to 8lbs, 12.3oz! As the pediatrician said, "her only job right now is to gain weight," so we're really happy!!

Baby-Wearing Daddy

Thanks to my colleague, Katy, we have lots of fun wraps on loan that we can try for wearing Chloe. Ed has really taken to it and loves wearing her when he feeds her and when she sleeps... so he can be on the computer at the same time! Chloe loves being close to her Daddy so it's a win-win.

Chloe Post - Play Time

Today, Mommy and I spent some time together playing. She said I needed "tummy time" and used my boppy with the quilt Aunt Helda made for me. Mommy put down a mirror for me to look at. It had a little baby in it! I smiled at the baby and licked her.

I got bored after awhile, so Mommy turned me around and showed me this toy she bought for me. She pushed buttons and animals made noises and played songs. I don't really understand it, but it was so funny! I smiled when the noises I liked played.

Mommy and I had lots of fun, but then I got fussy and needed a nap. Whew. That was a really busy 5-7 minutes! But, I was really glad we had so much fun - look how happy I am:

Thank you!

Chloe, Ed, and I wanted to take a moment to thank Ed's wonderful co-workers for their very thoughtful gift! It sounds crazy, but this month we will be starting Chloe's college fund (hard to believe this little bitty girl will go to college one day) and your lovely gift will allow us to start the fund off right and still have plenty of diapers!

xoxoxo

PS. Chloe had a doctor's appt. yesterday and she is up to 8 lbs, 7.6 oz and 1 foot, 8.24 inches!

Baby's Day Out

Yesterday, Chloe and I got all dressed up to go to Meghan's baby shower with Aunt Diane. Other than Meg, Chloe was the belle of the ball! Everyone was so impressed with such a pretty, well-behaved baby. She and Aunt Diane hung out together through the entire party so Mommy could eat lunch with BOTH HANDS. It was awesome.

After the beautiful shower, we met up with Daddy, Uncle John, Jayne and Ryan at the Kite and Key for a really yummy dinner. Chloe continued to look stylin' in her dress and cardigan until she urked all over herself. Thank goodness that Mommies always bring extra outfits!

PS. 8 lbs, 6.4 oz!
