Last Day of School!

Chloe: It's our last day of school of 2012!!!

Amber: I'm so excited! We are wearing dresses from Aunt Diane and our wonderful mother stayed up way too late last night to make yummy cupcakes for us to bring to school.

Chloe: Yay!

Happy Birthday, Amber Kat!

Chloe: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AMBER!!!

Amber: YAY!  I'm two year old!  Two!

 Amber: That's MY CAKE!*

Amber: I love it!  We had such a good time.  I love being two.  And ducks.  And icing.  I'm not so much with the singing, though.

*That's what she said every time she walked past the table yesterday.

Seeing the Lights at Rose Tree Park

 Amber: So that was fun!

Chloe: Totally!!  She wouldn't tell us where we were going, but when we got to Rose Tree Park and I saw all the lights, I pronounced her, "THE BEST MOMMY EVER."

Chloe: Good point... although you fell asleep on the way there.  When Mommy woke you and asked if you wanted to see the lights, you mumbled, "no."

Amber: But, when I saw what she was talking about, I totally rallied.

Chloe: True.

Amber: It was fun... we're getting to see lots of great holiday stuff.

Chloe: I wish Christmas were tomorrow!

Amber: Pace yourself.

The Critter Sale

Chloe: I so prefer the weekends.  I like it when Mommy hauls us to the four corners of the earth, even if she's really tired.  For example, we had a great time with Aunt Jennifer on Saturday at the Brandywine River Museum.  I exhibited much maturity in the selection of our new Critter ornaments and understood that you can't have everything you want all the time.  I also really loved hanging out with these animals and enjoying the sunshine.  If the sun is going to keep being this bright, I really don't understand why we can't go to the beach.

Amber: I wish people would stop trying to put me on this pig.

Wait... what is it?

Amber: What is this?

Chloe: You don't know?

Amber: Well, I mean, I've seen some of these lying around the house, but I'm not clear... I mean... wait, is it?  It's not... wait.

Chloe: It's a baby.

Amber: I'm the baby.

Chloe: Not anymore.

Amber: There is literally no one that I don't hate right now.

Chloe: Don't worry - I got used to you.  This will be cake.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Chloe: Going to school after a four day weekend sucks.  I miss my people.  I just want to be with my people all the time.  Like Aunt Diane.  I love her so much that I literally can't stand it.  My eyes are bugging out with love.

Amber: I love her, too.  I wish these people would stop staring at me, but I love her.  Also, I'm a little pissed that you got to sit at the A-list table with Aunt Diane and the rest of us were booted to the living room.

Chloe: Dude, I was here first.

Chloe: You got to sit with Mommy and Daddy, though, that's something.

Amber: Yeah, you know what it is?  Just like last Thursday. That's cool, though, we had a good time.  That woman can COOK.  And I don't care if you're Aunt Diane's favorite because... (whispers) I'm Daddy's favorite...

Chloe: What?  I missed that last part.

Amber: Not important.  Carry on...

Chloe: Look how stylish we are!

Amber: I know.  Mom-Mom took one look at us in these coats and said, "I don't even need to ask where those came from."  Everyone can tell Aunt Diane has great style!

Chloe: See?  Mom-Mom - another one of my people.  And here it is Monday and we're at school.  Suckage.  But, anyway.  It was a good thing that Mom-Mom came with us to the mall so she could chase you down when you ran from Santa.

Amber: He's not right.

Chloe: You made it all the way to the Gap.  You sure can run fast.

Amber: I run from predators.  The man's not right.

Chloe: He's going to bring you a baby doll if you are good, so he can't be all bad.

Amber: Do I have to SEE him to get the baby doll?

Chloe: No.  Just be good.

Amber: Man, I was born good.

Massive Update

Chloe: Lord love a duck!  She hasn't updated our blog since October 25!

Amber: Well, the hurricane and then Daddy was using the camera and camera cord to document our destroyed ceiling, plus she's busy at work... you know how it is.

Chloe: Well, I think I speak for Grams when I say, "that's no excuse."

Amber: Okay, well, on it with it then...

Chloe and Amber's Massive Update

Chloe: We had a great time trick or treating at the mall as a family.

Amber: Why weren't other Mommies and Daddies dressed up like ours were?

Chloe: Mommy said it's because they have sticks up their booties.

Amber: That doesn't even make sense.

Chloe: Yeah, I don't know.  I wasn't really listening.

Amber: Here we are at Pirate Day at the Brandywine River Museum.  We had fun making pirate crafts, seeing art, listening to pirate stories and touring the grounds.

Chloe: I really liked seeing the animal sculptures and listening to you speak to them in their native tongue.
Amber: Yes, here I am, oinking at the pig.

Amber: MOOOO

Chloe: Here we are, celebrating Simma Simma Founders' Day.

Amber: Are you sure that's how you pronounce it?

Chloe: UM, this is my fourth Founders' Day and it's only your first, so I think I know I what I'm talking about, thank you very much.

 Amber: Sure.

Amber: Anyway, I had a really good time.  I'm not sure why I wasn't included before.  I was helpful with the raffle, quiet during the keynote, I only colored on the table cloth a little bit, and I was really enjoying the carbohydrates.

 Amber: See?

Chloe: It was a great day - we got to see our Simma peeps and Mommy bought us buttons and let us wear some of her jewelry.

Amber: Yes, I wore a Phi Sig pin from the California Alumnae Chapter with a sun on it and one from the Northern Virginia Alumnae Chapter (the state of Virginia).  You chose the Panda and the Democratic Donkey.  I don't know if that's also from the Northern Virginia chapter or a DC chapter and Mommy can't remember.

Chloe: Mommy stuck to representing Philly and wore her Ben Franklin pin, plus a lot of others that she said she wouldn't loan me because she had "earned" them.  Whatever.

Amber: It was a great day.  I loved when you reprimanded the sales woman for not selling Simma Simma shirts for kids.

Chloe: Well, really.  My FOURTH time.  Can no one plan ahead??

Amber: And here we are, modeling our new Hello Kitty Christmas shirts from Grams.

Chloe: They are so fab!  Well, that's all, everyone... have a wonderful Thanksgiving and we'll see you again soon!

Amber: Over and out and gobble gobble.

Gearing Up for Halloween

Chloe: Grams sent us these awesome visors to get ready for Halloween and they are super cool.  I am totally ready for Halloween!  I want to go trick or treating and stuff my face with candy as fast as my little hands will allow!  I wish every day were Halloween!  Except for Christmas.

Amber: I don't know what I'm supposed to be doing right now.

Columbus Day!

Chloe: Happy Columbus Day!

Amber: What is Columbus Day?

Chloe: It's the day where we celebrate white people stealing land from brown people.

Amber: How is that something to celebrate?

Chloe: I don't know, but it's a day off school!

Amber: Score!

Chloe: Yeah, what a great day!  Mommy took us to the dentist, but they made our appointment for another day without telling her, so we got to skip it.

Amber: That was such a relief to me, I won't lie.

Chloe: Yeah, I was up for it, but that's okay.  We got a nice long time to play in the park and then we went shopping...

Amber: ...I enjoyed a nice nap...

Chloe: ...And I read some Halloween books with Mommy that we are reviewing for the Bookshelf Bombshells (coming soon)!  Plus, Mommy and I took turns watching some TV.  She only got one episode of Supernatural, though.

Amber: Then she packed up our summer clothes and put all our new clothes away so Daddy will be able to find them.

Chloe: Plus, she made dinner, cleaned up dinner, did a bunch of laundry and gave us baths.

Amber: She snuck us to bed early, did you catch that?

Chloe: NO WAY.

Amber (nods): She's sneaky... but, then she kept on working and entered a Thirty-One party.

Chloe: Personally, I think she's relieved to be back at the office today.

Amber: I should think so.

Amber Gets in Touch with Our Country's Ancestors

Amber: I could not WAIT to show Mommy my authentic Native American headdress that I made at school!  It is so fantastic that I wore it all the way home to show Daddy!  I am so in touch with the plight of the Native Americans over the theft of their land and I also feel the joy that lives within their culture.  Further, I embrace this season of autumn.

Chloe: You look like a peacock.

Little Sweeties

Amber: CHLO CHLO!  CHLO CHLO!  CHLO CHLO!

Chloe: What?!

Amber: Take a picture with me.

Happy Birthday, Aunt Diane!

Chloe: I love my Diane.  I love her so much.  I just want to be with her all the time and I tell Mommy that all.the.time so she knows.  So, of course, I was thrilled to spend Sunday with her, Uncle John and Miss Desiree at the beach.  I sang Happy Birthday multiple times and gave lots of kisses and tried to dig to China and ate fish and chips and cried and cried and cried when we left.

Chloe: I was simply overcome with hysteria.

Amber: She really was.  Listen to her.

Chloe: If I could figure out a way to live in Aunt Diane's purse, I would.

Amber: She totally would.

Chloe: Returning home from the beach house really requires chemical intervention.

Amber: Thank God she finally shut up so I could sleep.

Chadds Ford Days

Chloe: Yesterday, Mommy and her friend Jennifer took us to Chadds Ford Days.  It took WAY too long to get there, but it was worth it.  I especially liked seeing the cows.  The Mommy, Prada, makes very yummy milk that we got to drink.

Amber: (Calm down, Daddy, it was pasteurized.)

Chloe: This is Prada's baby, Pretzel.  He was just 4 days old!

Amber: MOO

Chloe: One of my favorite things was meeting all the vendors at the craft show and the historical crafters.  I was very interested to learn about making pottery, lace (I helped!), wood carving, basket weaving and creating molds for designing glass sun catchers.

Amber: I could totally make that lace lady cry.  Those dowels look like something that I would very much like to play with...

Chloe: I also liked the kids' activities... the bounce house and the games.  Mommy said that she didn't expect to have to pay for those things, but I think it was worth it.

(Note from Mommy: I can't make that photo do what I want and it's Monday, so deal with it.)

Chloe: I don't know what this is, but Mommy thought it was funny.

(Note from Mommy: It's funny because it's true!)

Chloe: This guy is actually carving a new mold right in front of me.  He's going to use it to make sun catchers with squirrels on them.

(Note from Mommy: Chloe picked out her outfit for the day.)
Chloe: My favorite vendor was the one who made the Adirondack chairs.

Amber: Yeah, I think you sat in all of them.

Chloe: Mommy refused to buy one!

Amber:  Yeah, she's mean that way.
